POETRY:

We want poetry by young creatives, for young creatives.

We’re looking for voices that are not being actively listened to and pieces that empower them; voices that challenge those on the main stage and testify to the human condition.

Poetry that demonstrates the creativity of young writers.

We’re looking for submissions that push boundaries and rewrite them.

We seek lines you want tattooed on your skin; poems that stand out from the status quo.

-Send us 1 to 4 poems in their final format.

-Please use .docx, .doc, or .pdf file formats.

PROSE:

We seek prose with strong imagery that captures our attention and leaves us dizzy with surprise.

Stories that answer questions, make readers curious, and show a new perspective.

Tell us character driven stories that steal us from our own minds.

Through your fiction or creative nonfiction, tell us something you believe is important to share.

-We accept stories under 2,000 words.

-You may submit up to three (3) stories.

-Please use .docx, .doc, or .pdf file formats.

-Please include double-spacing and page numbers.

VISUAL ART:

We seek art that whispers moments in our ears, art that lights up our eyes or clouds our vision, so that all we can see is honest.

Art made of old dream-catchers or lampshades shielding us from nightmares and LED lights.

We seek paintings that tell a story, we seek pictures brought to life.

We seek art that connects.

-Please send up to five (5) of your best original paintings, drawings and short comics, photography, images of three-dimensional art forms (like sculpture), collages or mixed media.

-Send files as .png or .tiff files (no .jpgs please)

-Please use minimum 300dpi.

-Color or black & white accepted.

A NOTE ON COMBINED SUBMISSIONS:

We accept submissions from artists in multiple genres, but you may only submit six (6) total pieces (ex.- two poems, one short story, three paintings).

IF YOUR WORK IS ACCEPTED:

You will receive (2) copies of the magazine as payment. We would also like to invite you to a reading / showing of your work (either online or, if we can, in person) upon publication.

Copyright reverts to writer upon publication. If your work is republished elsewhere, please acknowledge Disclaimer Magazine as the first publisher.
